 This presentation will provide the viewers a handout and display that includes board screen shots of Black Board.com. The focus of the display is implementing technology into an alternative education school.

While at the conference, access to Blackboard.com is available on-line for conference participants who need course management software.  Participants will be able to view this software and use the tools associated with the product. The targeted users for this display includes but is not limited to: schools, government agencies, and private companies.

The targeted audience includes: course and curriculum designers, on-line Web site managers, home school providers, Charter Schools, and other users that need management software. Black Board provides users with the ability to:

Provides on-line core curricula for students in grades 6-12 in English, mathematics, science, and social studies.

Provides remediation courseware for students in the core subject areas.

The On-line courseware is appropriate for students in grades 6-12 in need of a credit accrual option. This courseware also includes test preparation materials in GED, state standardized test, SAT, ACT, and School to Work materials.

Provides the full curricula on-line and/or WAN based for school districts, Charter Schools, etc.

The Florida High School-http://www.fhs.firn
The Florida High School (FHS) provides an on-line solution for students in the state of Florida. Students receive all of the materials in a box and have access to a teacher via e-mail. The courses offered are high level, high interest and is not recommended for struggling readers.

Provides students with the core subject areas on-line. Students are recommended to get District approval before enrolling in the course.

Provides K-8 students with an on-line core curriculum. This courseware is recommended for home schooled students

Josten’s-http://www.jostens.com
The new Josten’s software is WAN based and provides remedial software in the core subject areas for grades 6-12. This product can be delivered on-line via the  WAN .

New Century-http://www.newcentury.com
This software provides core subject area software for students in need of remediation. This software is currently being used in Juvenile Justice Sites.

Skills Bank-http://www.skillsbank.com
This software is server or Wide Area Networked (WAN) based software that provides remediation in mathematics and reading.
